[QUOTE="lega4, post: 165437, member: 14776"] I've just got a compressor box last week as the absorption 3-way fridge in my RV was not really cooling well, and I can say I'm more than happy with it. It eats no more than 4-5 amps when the compressor is on and 0.1 A in stand-by. I always boondock and have 240Ah AGM main leisure battery (+ additional 80Ah leisure battery in case of emergency), ~ 200W de-facto solar panels (de-jure it's 400W: 100+100+200, but one panel is quite broken not making more than 20 real W under the noon sun and another one probably 200W, but it's old and probably closer to 100 in reality). I work full time (it means laptop, inverter, display are on for ~8h per day). During sunny days in Germany when I stand under the sun, it's constantly 100%, no loss at all, solar works well. Now I'm in Norway and solar power is not so high, but still I'm more than 1 week away already and I've used only 23% == 55Ah of my main battery (no alternator was ever connected during these days to this battery). And no, I prefer to stand under the sun :) Also because of solar panels, but just because it's typically nicer while it's not super-hot (northern Norway summer is up to 20 degrees which is more than comfortable to stand). But of course with +35 I also hide in shadow. The fridge is permanently on, and that's one more advantage of compressor fridges - it doesn't drain energy always, but only for ~5min per hour which makes it super efficient, like 5A*12V == 60W -> 120Wh==10Ah per day or so.
