I just bought this fridge last week as my 3-way fridge was not really cooling and my trip has started. There were two reasons: first, the price is the best price which you can find for compressor fridges (240-270 eur depending on the shop and way of buying). Second - this is the only fridge which you can buy "today" by just driving to the nearest ATU and grabbing the box in the same minute you've arrived. In this country noone else provides such level of service, sic! I did want to get MobiCool one, but I was unable to find any shop which sells it "now" without bloody delivery.
What I can say - it works quite well
After unpacking it has cooled down from +35 (outside temp) to +3 in 20 min or so.
- Physical size is the same as for 40L thermoelectric fridge from Norauto, but the nominal capacity of this one is 30L just because they have this useless "room temperature space". For me so far 30L are more than enough, if not - you can always take a saw and just remove the wall between cooled and non-cooled compartments to increase the capacity at least to 35L if not more (not to 40 though as this room compartment is not as deep as the other ones).
- Energy consumption is around 0.1A*12V in standby and ~5A*12V when compressor in on. I've set it to +5 and it turns on maybe once-twice per hour for 2-3 min. with half-full load and ~+20 outside.
- 1.5 bottles don't really stand vertically inside, or maybe I have some special high bottles, no idea. But I don't really care as milk, cheese and yogurts are not as high
- Some minor disadvantage - it has handle and wheels (why would you make fridge with wheels?!), so for permanent installation in a RV one probably wants to remove them. Shouldn't be a big problem though.
- Also you cannot really turn it on after you have turned it off, it just doesn't work like this, you have to plug off and on again.
- About the noise - if you put it near the bed, then for sure it's somehow annoying. I can still sleep and it doesn't wake me up, but when you're falling asleep and - boom - fridge starts - then you might not fall asleep as fast as you would without it. But probably you put it somewhere else, either in the trunk or passenger seat (if it's a van), on inside some big compartment in a RV. So my case (just putting it to the couch in RV next to the bed) is rather special.
